What’s up tough guy. You’re tough right? You waddle around the gym lookin’ mean and ready to crack skulls. You glare down anyone in your path and let ’em know who’s BOSS right big guy?
Here’s the thing, though. Anyone with any level of awareness and grounding in reality (the REAL METAPHYSICAL REALITY OF OUR WORLD), knows you’re full of fluff.
I’m talking about those guys who just GOTTA look as tough as possible all the time, and express zero joy at any moment. Where’s the lightness? Where’s the effortlessness? Where’s the SPREZZATURA, so to speak?
Since when did it become cool to look straight-up constipated wherever you go? I must have missed the memo because you look downright goofy my brother.
I don’t write this to trash anyone or pick a fight. It’s not worth it to me and I have nothing to prove to anyone. My point is that by playing this TUF GUY role and putting on a performance wherever you go, you’re limiting yourself to a MASSIVE degree.
Being this “ICE COLD” character is so boring, so played out, so derivative. I get that sometimes you’re just in that mode and don’t want to be fucked with. 100% I understand. But when that becomes your entire persona and you can’t explore other dimensions of expression or emotion, you’re basically living life in greyscale.
I’m not saying be unhinged or your emotions or become a softy with no spine. Of course you gotta be strong to the core at all times, but that doesn’t need to be your default mode of expression.
The most advanced, illuminated, and enlightened people I’ve met in life are strong as FUC on a physical and spiritual level, but also have the flexibility and dynamism to engage with the world through various modes.
Be able to be LOOSE, CAREFREE, COMFORTABLE in your environment. Have some variety in how you conduct yourself and enjoy life as the performance art piece that it is.
This doesn’t mean sliding off your purpose or turning into a goofball. Just don’t get locked in one manner of being and miss out on the sheer RANGE of experiences that life has to offer within our own selves.
Have YOU been the tough guy lately? Who are you trying to impress? What are you trying to hide? Unless you’re in a cutthroat business meeting or ready to fight for an MMA Championship Title, how bout you try relaxing and enjoying the moment for once?
In fact, you’ll find that things go a bit more smoothly when you stop forcing this hyper-TUFF facade on the world. There’s less friction. You can step up and be badass if need be, but how often is that actually necessitated?
Be tough, train hard – do all that stuff. But until it’s time to THROW DOWN, try chilling out.
In Peace and Power
